Non-metallic materials commonly used in the manufacture of spectacle frames are mainly made of synthetic resins and are classified into thermoplastic and thermosetting resins.
1. Celluloid
It is a kind of material used to make glasses very early. It has been rare in the early 21st century. Celluloid has good plasticity, high hardness and can be dyed into various colors. The disadvantage is poor stability, easy corrosion and aging; it will emit camphor smell when rubbed. Can be used to identify this material. It is rarely used due to its characteristics such as aging and flammability.
2, acetate fiber
Acetate is not flammable compared to celluloid. Generally, the chemical frame is mostly made of this material, and according to the processing method, it can be divided into an injection molding frame and a plate frame.
3, injection molding frame
Low cost, seams and roughness, used in low-profile sunglasses (hot-work manufacturing).
4, sheet metal frame
Made of cold-worked, fine, good quality and durable, most non-metallic frames are made of sheet metal material. The characteristics are high strength, strong, but the material is brittle. After the impact in winter, it is easy. Brittle fracture, the method of distinguishing carbon crystal frame is: there are obvious cutting marks at the temple.
5, epoxy resin
Light weight, bright color, good elasticity, long life, epoxy resin was first developed by European eyewear companies mainly used to manufacture CD, Dunhill and other brand-name racks. The method of distinguishing epoxy resin is that there is no core at the temple, and the acetate frame has a metal core. In addition, the epoxy frame is brighter in color.
